From 60 ft. murals on the side of the Interstate, to smaller banners lining downtown storefronts, Portrait of America‘s innovative presentation of portraiture intervenes in daily life, engaging the public in art and dialogue. Here’s a look back at some of our favorite installation concepts.

The Hartford Project: Extended through Sept. 30


Portraits on display at Hartford Public Library

Great news POA followers! Portrait of America is proud to announce that The Hartford Project exhibition has been extended through September 30th. If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out the exhibition, you’re in luck! You’ve now got an extra 50 days to do so.

In related news, our display at Hartford Public Library has moved- traveling on to The Goodwin Hotel (corner of Pearl & Haynes St.) in downtown Hartford. The portraits will be on display in the main lobby.

Better Connecticut takes a tour of The Hartford Project

Better Connecticut‘s Scott Haney accompanies Joe Standart on a walking tour of the exhibition. What a great segment!

We hope you can all join on on July 1st, when we hold our special First Thursday Walking Tour. The 30 minute self-guided tour culminates at the Cirque du Wadsworth festivities that will take over Travelers Plaza from 5-9pm. More details on the way. Invite your friends!

POA in the Press

Phase III of the Hartford installation was a great success. The Capital West mural looks amazing, as do the 4 portraits on the front lawn of the Wadsworth. Thanks to all who made this possible. The Hartford Project Exhibition Map
